Game Night: Brotherhood & The Adventure Card Game

Theme & Purpose

Game nights are more than play — they reveal who we are when we compete, collaborate, and face challenges together. This version of Game Night centers on The Adventure: The Card Game, created by Ever Forward Club.

In most games, there are only one to three winners. But in this game, everyone has to work together to win against the game itself. That makes teamwork, trust, and communication just as important as strategy.

During gameplay, players face challenge cards. When they answer honestly from behind the mask — sharing the truths they usually don’t let others see — they earn more points and are able to rescue more characters. This makes the game powerful for young men and engaging for people of all ages.

Benefits for Young Men

  1. Courage & Honesty – Learn that real strength comes from sharing authentically.

  2. Brotherhood & Trust – Build bonds through collaborative play and mutual support.

  3. Life Skills – Practice communication, teamwork, and resilience in a fun way.

STEP-BY-STEP Program

Game Night: Brother & The Adventure Card Game

1. Welcome & Purpose (5 minutes)

Host Script:
“Welcome to Game Night: Strategy & Brotherhood. Tonight we’ll play The Adventure: The Card Game. Before we start, we’ll take part in the #MillionMaskMovement to reflect on the difference between what we show on the outside and what we usually don’t let others see. These truths will help us as we face challenges in the game together.”

2. Create a Mask (10 minutes)

  • Hand out mask cards.

  • Invite participants to write/draw:

    • Front (outside): the positive qualities they usually show the world (e.g., hardworking, funny, confident, athletic).

    • Back (inside): the “real stuff” they usually don’t let others see (e.g., fear of failure, stress, sadness, family pressure).

  • Collect masks

  • Reflection: “In this game, sharing honestly from behind the mask earns more points and helps us rescue more characters. What we usually don’t let others see can become the key to winning together.”

3. Game Setup (5 minutes)

Split into tables of 4–6.

  1. Review the rules of The Adventure: The Card Game.

  2. Set round length (20–25 min).

4. Play Round 1 (20–25 minutes)

  • Begin gameplay.

  • Encourage tables to pause when challenge cards are played to reflect on how outside vs. inside truths shaped answers.

5. Regroup & Reflection (10–15 minutes)

Bring the whole group back together. Prompts:

  • “What did you notice about yourself during the game?”

  • “How did answering from behind the mask change the experience?”

  • “Where did teamwork make the biggest difference?”

6. Play Round 2 (15–20 minutes, optional)

  • Add a twist (shorter time limit, extra rules).

  • Encourage players to use their inside truths even more boldly in this round.

7. Closing & Positive Action (5–10 minutes)

Host Script:
“Games reflect life. Tonight you saw that being honest from behind the mask makes you stronger and helps the whole group succeed. Real brotherhood happens when we play, struggle, and win together.”

Each participant writes down one lesson from the game they can apply in real life (teamwork, communication, honesty).

8. SHARE MASKS POST EVENT (10 minutes)

Take pictures of each mask and email them to millionmask@everforwardclub.org to join our #MillionMaskMovement and help us reach 100,000 people by this November!

Optional Add-ons

  • Team Tournament: Run multiple tables and see which group can rescue the most characters collectively.

  • Reflection Raffle: Every time a participant shares honestly from behind the mask, they earn a ticket for a small prize (snack, book, gift card).

  • Family or Mentor Round: Invite adults, mentors, or family members to join the second round — showing how honesty and teamwork connect across generations.
